Breg () is a settlement on the left bank of the Sava River in the Municipality of Sevnica in central Slovenia. The area is part of the historical region of Styria. The municipality is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.〔(Sevnica municipal site )〕 The settlement includes the hamlets of Gradišče, Jelše, and Zagradec.〔Savnik, Roman, ed. 1976. Ljubljana: Državna založba Slovenije. p. 254.〕 ==Name== ''Breg'' is not only a common toponym in Slovenia, but also has equivalents in other Slavic languages (e.g., ''Brijeg'' in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ''Břehy'' in the Czech Republic, ''Brehy'' in Slovakia, and ''Brzeg'' in Poland), all derived from the Slavic common noun '' *bergъ'' 'slope, bank'. In Slovene, the noun ''breg'' may refer not only to sloping land or land alongside a body of water, but also to the water itself.〔Snoj, Marko. 2009.
